Twin Lakes in San Isabel National Forest

Twin Lakes, Colorado
San Isabel National Forest
Great Sand Dunes NP a Twin Lakes: 3 hs

From Great Sand Dunes to San Isabel National Forest
After stopping at a mexican restaurant for an unappetizing lunch and checking out some cool RVs we took a wrong turn (one of the few times we didn’t have our GPS set) and ended up climbing to the continental divide at Monarch Crest at 11,312 feet. From there it was mostly downhill to Twin Lakes, the place we decided to camp at for the night. It turned out to be a very peaceful campsite by the lakes and M and T found lots of entertainment. Throwing rocks at the water is becoming a favorite. We walked along one of the lakes, started a fire, looked at the stars and went to bed in the cool night.
