We are almost ready to go!!! Just one week for our January 14th flight from Boston to Argentina. From Buenos Aires we plan to drive back to
Mexico Boston. It should takes us no longer than eight months.
Here’s the plan:
Spend the first two weeks with family in Buenos Aires –
Argentina: going northeast visit Córdoba, Talampaya, Valle de la Luna, Tucumán, Salta and Jujuy – ~15-20 days
Chile: just a few days in the north of Chile visiting San Pedro de Atacama – 3-4 days
Bolivia: Laguna Colorada, Salar de Uyuni, Potosí, Sucre, La Paz, the Yungas, Lago Titicaca – ~20 days
Perú: Lago Titicaca, Cañon del Colca, Arequipa, south coast to Nazca, Huacachina, Paracas, Huacho, Huaraz, Chavín de Huantar, Caraz, Trujillo/Huanchaco, Chiclayo, Máncora and Tumbes – ~30 days
Ecuador: Machala, Cuenca, Guamote, Riobamba, Baños/Patate, Quilotoa Loop (Pujili, Tigua, Chugchilan), Cotopaxi, Quito, Oyacachi, Otavalo – ~25 days
Colombia: Laguna de la Cocha, Popayan, Cali/Pance, Zona Cafetera (Armenia, Pereira, Manizales), Bogotá, Villa de Leyva, San Gil/Barichara, Bucaramanga, Santa Marta, Palomino, Cartagena- ~30 days
Drive across the Darien to Panama!!! We’ve heard this is safe nowadays. 🙂
This part is not planned in detail yet.
Panama (~1 week), Costa Rica (~4 weeks), Nicaragua (~1 week), Honduras (~ 6 hours, not including police stops), El Salvador (1 day), Guatemala (~2 weeks),
Mexico (~3 weeks). I know, some people consider Mexico part of Central America.
